Dr. James Helmer graduated from the Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, IL. He completed his Residency in Family Medicine and Fellowships in Geriatric Medicine and Faculty Development at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Helmer is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine; he is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Geriatrics Society, and American Academy of Hospice & Palliative Care Medicine. Currently, Dr. Helmer serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in Family and Geriatric Medicine at Ventura County Medical Center.
