Supervisor Bennett's Office has requested that the following information be made available to all prehospital and emergency care providers in Ventura County.

The Wheelchair Rescue Program provides donated cellular phones to wheelchair bound individuals so that they may access emergency services when necessary. Individuals interested in participating in the program should contact Mike Rifkin at the Wheelchair Rescue Program, 805-647-0192.

The Program has also made an agreement with South Coast Area Transit (SCAT) to assist wheelchair bound patients in the event of mechanical/electrical chair failure. All prehospital and emergency care providers may call 805-483-4527 to have a SCAT wheelchair unit responded should non-medical transport be required for a wheelchair bound individual. The service is available during normal SCAT service hours.
