The Children's Mental Health program provides integrated mental
health services by working with the Community and with other agencies
such as Special Education, Children's Protective Services, Juvenile
Justice system and Children's Medical Services. A full range of
services are offered including: psychiatric assessment and treatment,
case management, outpatient psychotherapy, psychological testing,
school based services, home based services, acute care of crises
and hospitalization. All of the programs strive to insure continuity
of appropriate care in the least restrictive environment and prevent
out of home placement
Children's
Mental Health Services can be obtained through the Managed Care
Access Line (800) 671-0887 for MediCal recipients. Other interested
residents may call the nearest Options Clinics. The services are
divided into the following programs:

addition, the outpatient programs assist individuals in obtaining
employment, accessing medical care, and accessing treatment for
addictions, accessing socialization, and accessing available safe
and secure housing.

Juvenile
Justice Program
Ventura County Behavioral Health clinicians serve youth with mental health needs who are in residence at the Juvenile Facilities in Oxnard. Outpatient mental health programs also serve youth enrolled in Drug Court, the Adelante Mental Health Court, the Healthy Returns aftercare program, and the intensive treatment program for adjudicated sex offenders. These programs operate in collaboration with the Ventura County Probation Agency.
Special
Education Program
This
program is accessed through your local school district. Day
treatment programs for eligible special education students. These
are collaborative efforts between local school districts and Mental
Health. Therapists are placed on-site at designated Special Day
Classes. Case management services are offered for all Seriously
Emotionally Disturbed students that are placed away from home. Services
are also offered for preschoolers through Headstart.
Protective
Services Subsystem
This
program is accessed through Children & Family Services, "Protective
services" and the Courts. Provides
Psychosocial assessment and service planning for all children and
adolescents who have been removed from their homes or are at-risk
for removal due to abuse and neglect. Treatment for youth in the
Casa Pacifica shelter care, training of foster parents and individual
and family therapy for youths placed in Shomair therapeutic foster
homes, case management of all dependents placed in group homes and
family reunification services through Project Impact.
Acute
Care Services
Inpatient
psychiatric services are offered through private psychiatric hospitals
for Medical recipients and uninsured children and adolescents. In-home
crisis intervention can also be obtained through the Crisis Team.
